Teak (Tectona)

Teak is one of the most valuable timber trees in the world and can be grown across all major states of India. It does best in tropical climates with annual rainfall between 1200 and 2500 mm, and prefers deep, fertile, well-drained soil. Watering regularly in the first two years is important, after which the trees become more independent and strong.

Our BSB Star 21 clonal variety grows 15 to 20 percent faster than ordinary teak, meaning your trees reach harvest size years ahead of a normal plantation. Around 450 trees can be planted per acre at a spacing of 3 by 3 metres. Planned thinning from year 5 to 7 gives steady income well before the final harvest, which between years 15 and 20 can yield 25 to 30 lakh rupees per acre.

Teak is used for furniture, shipbuilding, and heavy construction, and commands the highest prices in both domestic and international markets.
